Hay Asz

Hay Asz is know mainly as a hay fever formula… not for much else. When I tell people to take it for colds, sore throat,  runny nose, cough, congestion, asthma, flu, etc., it makes me feel like screaming when they say, "But I don't have any allergies". Why did I ever name my formula!? Perhaps if Hay Asz were still called by its formula number "1-21-B"  you would believe it would work for something other than what the name implies. So, we will make some changes…any place you see the word Hay Asz, substitute it for its formula number 1-21-B. Then the second change; where ever you see the words Hay Fever, add colds, sore throat, runny nose, cough, congestion, asthma, flu and etc. (I'm making another big mistake by only naming these few illnesses.) Think of formula 1-21-B (Hay Asz) not as a treatment for specific illnesses, but as a nutrient or a tonic to strengthen the entire respiratory system. Most misunderstandings about herbal formulas and their uses happen when we try to name specific illnesses that they are good for. Rather, we should look at them as building blocks, for good health in specific systems and/or tissues. They build and maintain good health. So, Hay Asz is good for any and all respiratory disorders. Monia is more specific for the lung and bronchial. Flem Up to reestablish mucus movement out of the lung. The list goes on and on. Herbal formulas do not treat illnesses, I do not treat illnesses…I try with my herbal formulas to reestablish healthy tissue conditions in the organs and systems of the body. If they are healthy and properly nourished, bacteria's, germs, and all the mystical magical nasty things that make us sick have no waste matter to grow on, and are unable to increase their numbers beyond our bodies ability to fight them. When people ask me "what herb is good to substitute for a certain chemical" it's like asking me, "which breed of cow gives chocolate milk". We must first consider which systems or tissues in the body are weak or what failure in them has occurred, to determine the support the body needs by herbal therapy.

Think of chemicals as a controlling, manipulating, selfish mother-in-law. Think of herbal therapy as a loving, supporting companion. Your choice…"controlled" or "supported?" I have worked as an herbalist, in the great DRY state of New Mexico for the past 20 years. Perhaps this information will be helpful this dry HAY FEVER season.

Swab the sinuses with a good herbal salve
such as my Comfrey-Gold salve or Marshmallow salve.  Swab deeply and generously. Laying down is the best position, for this allows salve to run down the back of the throat.  If you haven't a good salve use a cold pressed oil.

I have found over the years that at this time craving for sugars and refined carbohydrates increase.  This is because the acid alkaline balance in the body is disturbed. One of the best ways to balance this, and lessen junk food craving is with 1Tsp. Apple Cider Vinegar (raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized)  & 2 Tsp. Raw Honey (raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized)  add to 7 oz, good water. This is taken 2 times a day.

The herbs I have found most helpful in this dry land are Desert Tea, which helps the sinus, sore throat and watery eyes.  Comfrey Lf. soothes the sinuses and helps the congestion.  Juniper Br. helps in the sneezing and the allergic reaction. Marshmallow Rt. soothes the mucous membranes in the sinus, lungs and helps in moisturizing the membranes. Oregano and Paprika are both high in trace minerals in colloidal form  and have an excellent form of vitamin C.  You may take these herbs in combination or by themselves.

I prefer to formulate in proper proportions, and capsulate in "00" caps.  You may take 1 to 50 a day depending on the severity of the attack.  Finding less and less needed each day until a dose is found that works for you.  I call this formula  HAY ASZ.
