When I
first began naming my herbal formulas my children were very young…4 or 5
maybe. The family gathered together as we were naming these formulas and I would
describe what they were good for and why we took them. Then we'd bounce names
around until we'd come up with the right one. When we were naming this
particular formula we came up with "Flem Up", but the name that I
wanted to use was "Hock 'n' Spit" but my little girls said "oh,
daddy! You can't name it that!" Now they're older and think I ought to
change the name. 'Hock 'n' spit' is exactly what this formula does. If you have
a cough that hurts & something ought to come out but it's not…this formula
helps. It helps move mucous out of the lungs so that the lungs can function
properly. I use it in hay fever, asthma…any of those types of problems. Also
increasing the amount of water will make a significant difference in taking care
of mucous problems, as water will emulsify mucous. A few years after graduating
from herbal college I was called to the home of a man that was having asthma
problems. His lungs were filled with mucous, when he coughed you could hear it
rumbling in his chest. But when he would cough it would bring nothing up. So I
made a tea that had been suggested to me by one of my instructors at school. She
always told us in using this formula that it may cause the person to vomit, but
we were not to worry if this happened for this was a good sign, because what
they would vomit up would be mucous from their stomach and lungs. I determined
that this man needed some help immediately, and continued with this particular
formula not really expecting him to throw up. It was quite an eye opener when he
proceeded to the bathroom and threw up about a quart of dark blackish-green
stuff. When he would ask if this was normal, I would pat him on the back
assuring him it was. I never treated him again for asthma. All the garbage that
was in his lungs came up at one time. It never reared it's ugly head again. That
was in 1982. He had previously been treated by traditional medicine for this
condition for some 20 years. What an experience! Flem Up is a formula that has
been designed to gently move mucous out of the lungs. If mucous comes out of the
body too fast, decrease the dosage. Normal amounts for this formula would be 1,
3 times a day. It can be taken in much larger doses. Anything over 10 a day
could result in massive mucous movement. If you do use large doses, give
yourself a break and only do it 1 or 2 days at a time. Follow it by 2 or 3 days
of a regular dose, then you can use a larger one again. Be sensible. This
formula works. Traditional Use of the Contents: Black Cohosh Rt.
is used in asthma, coughs, lung congestion, & is a superior anti-spasmodic. Slippery
Elm Bk. helps move the mucous out of the lungs. Lobelia relaxes the
lungs & allows normal function. Lemon Grass is high in vitamin A that
is easy to assimilate.
